The "Gallo Nero" ["Black Rooster"] name was the original, carefully thought-out idea of Tonino and Rosa, parents of Loriano, current proprietor of the Hotel together with his wife Sandra and his sons, Gabriele and Matteo. The reference to the rooster is emblematic: its crest recalls the massive, sculpted granite cliffs which slope down to the sea at Sant’Andrea, embracing the gulf. The hotel is founded on family tradition, continuously modernised while maintaining all its typical local features, in a seamless blend of "country and sea". Standing on a gentle slope with a wonderful view of the Bay of S. Andrea, it consists of the main building and a string of five cottages leading down towards the sea. Located amidst vast grounds of 15 thousand square metres, the Gallo Nero offers a holiday in contact with nature: the buildings are an integral part of the sunny landscape, underlining the exuberance of the maquis with delicate borders of jasmine, bougainvillea, hydrangea and bird-of-paradise, not to mention bananas, palms, mimosa and rose bushes. A private path 300 metres long passes through the entire property, and leads past the vegetable plot to the sea. The careful attention to guests’ needs, the sense of courtesy handed down across the generations, and the love of detail are the real value-added of Hotel Gallo Nero. To stay there is to feel oneself part of one large family, comfort ensured by the high professional standards of the qualified staff and the cheerful presence of Sandra, Loriano and their sons. Hotel Gallo Nero is surrounded by grounds rich in plants; agave, figs, white grapes, lemons and multicoloured flowers, ensuring that the property’s appearance changes constantly with the seasons. Dotted with rose-bushes in a variety of shades, lavender, sage, wild rosemary, yarrow, St John’s wort and several species used in Bach Flower Remedies, the path that leads to the sea is known as the "Perfumed Walk". This stroll is the ideal opportunity for immersing oneself in the silence of nature, in fragrant quietness, and savouring a tasty fruit stolen from the garden.
